About Adnan Shati

Adnan Shati (Alshati), was born in the marshes of southern Iraq. Educated in Iraq, Florence-Italy, and in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Adnan has worked as a freelance artist most of his adult life. The most rewarding experience was doing caricature/portrait drawings at the Uffizi Museum and the Piazzale di Michelangelo in Florence, Italy. Adnan has held and participated in personal and group art exhibitions in the Middle East, Europe, and in Minnesota.

Adnan came to Minnesota in 1990 and worked on making designs and painting murals for homes and businesses in the Twin Cities. Some of the prominent example was the interior decoration for Sindbad Bakery and Deli on 25th St. and Nicollet Avenue in south Minneapolis. Another example of his mural work can be seen at The Heartland Cafe in the Medical Arts Building downtown Minneapolis, and Heartland Express at Southdale Medical Center in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Adnan was a special education teacher with a Master Degree in Special Education from the University of Minnesota (retired now). He used the art to enhance students learning, to stimulate their talents and creativities.
